Allan's Feds Presidential Experience
The President shall:
- Be the Chief Executive Officer of the Federation of Students (Feds).
- When present, preside at all meetings of the members of the Feds and of the Board of Directors.
- Have responsibility for the creation, maintenance, and implementation of the Federation of Students’ Long Range Plan.
- Act as a representative or provide for the representation for the Feds at official functions and on public occasions.
- Act as a representative for the Feds in matters pertaining to the University Senate, Board of Governors and the university administration and any other university committees.
- Periodically review the by-laws, policies and procedures of Students’ Council and recommend areas of improvement to the Board of Directors and to the Bylaws, Policy and Procedure Committee of Students’ Council.
- Provide an informational link between Students' Council and Faculty Student Societies, Residence Councils, Federated and Affiliated Colleges.
- Be the liaison with the municipal government.

Feds Board of Directors (Chair)
The Board of Directors meets on behalf of the Federation of Students shareholders (full-time UW students) largely to discuss and guide the financial and contractual affairs of the Federation of Students.

Undergraduate Student Relations Committee (Co-Chair)
A forum for communication between representatives of the Undergraduate students and senior University officers with responsibility for student relations, and address matters of concern relating to University-student relations and/or student life.

Committee of Presidents (Chair)
Maintain and promote communication, liaison, and co-ordination among the Federation of Students and Faculty Student organizations.

Feds Bylaws, Policies, and Procedures Committee (Chair)
Ensure that existing policies, procedures and by-laws are consistent with each other, to propose amendments to the policies, procedures and the by-laws, to ensure that any unwritten policy or procedure commonly utilized by the Corporation, be proposed in the form of a written policy.

Student Life Centre Management Board (Co-Chair)
The Student Life Centre (SLC) offers a wide variety of entertainment and services for the University of Waterloo community. The SLCMB is charged with overseeing the operations, finances, and logistics of the SLC and Turnkey operations.

Orientation (Co-Chair) / Orientation Review Committee (Co-Chair)
Orientation week is a full 6 days of programming designed to introduce first year students to their new surroundings. The Review Committee was responsible to reevaluate orientation and its methodology, along with administrative improvements for the years ahead.

Feds Students' Council
The purpose of the Students' Council is to uphold the goals of the Federation of Students under its Charter and its by-laws, and to establish policies of the Corporation. Council provides a representative forum for student input into Federation activities, including administration of clubs, funding for activities & projects, budgeting, education policy (local, provincial, federal), elections, referenda and more.

Feds Personnel Committee
This committee engages or discharges personnel as may be required, and is also responsible for all other personnel duties including but not limited to policy, evaluation of all staff, discipline, and conduct.

First Year Commission (Formerly First Year Working Group)
a. To be the voice to the Federation of Students on issues affecting first year students, assist in the transition of first year students into the University, organize events aimed at engaging first year students, provide outreach and information to first year students about current UW issues, and provide a link between the Federation of Students and Residence Councils.

Board of Governors
The government of the University and the control of its property and revenues, the conduct of its business and affairs, save with respect to such matters as are assigned by this Act to the Senate, shall be vested in the Board of Governors.

Student Services Advisory Committee (SSAC)
Advise on proposals for increases, decreases or redistribution of services and funds in connection with student services supported in whole or in part by the Student Services Fee, advise on the adequacy of these student services by conducting periodic reviews of the Student Service Units, and on the amount of the Student Services Fee.

Presidents Circle Award Nomination and Selection Committee
The awards were established to acknowledge the outstanding performances of student leaders and volunteers at the University of Waterloo.

Buildings & Properties
Oversight of buildings and properties of UW, while maintaining strategic plans and administrative processes of current and future developments.

President's Advisory Committee on Design (PADACO)
Review proposed construction, renovation, landscape, interior design, and public art projects at UW. In this role, the Committee's responsibility lies in the consideration of a project's design merits and its effect on the existing campus environment.

Pandemic Planning Committee
The University of Waterloo has a history of preparing for potentially difficult situations to ensure that proper care is afforded to its faculty, staff and students.

UW Identity Taskforce
Addresses the need for an agreed-upon, consistent institutional message of UW. This task force has been encouraged to develop a set of general institutional marketing and communications standards that will be flexible enough to take into account the diversity, needs, and creativity of units across campus.

City of Waterloo Town & Gown
The City of Waterloo and the Universities and College work to ensure that students will have safe, suitable and affordable housing, as well as a positive environment in which to study, work and play for the duration of their studies.

Presidential Nominating Committee
Responsible for soliciting the views of those affected, including members of the Board of Governors, the Vice-Presidents, the Deans, regular and non-regular faculty members, the President of the Faculty Association, the Federated & Affiliated Colleges, staff members, students and alumni.

The Senate has the power to establish the educational policies of the University and to make recommendations to the Board of Governors with respect to any matter relative to the operation of the University.

Suzanne Burdett - Feds General Manager
a. This position reports to the President and the Vice President Administration & Finance of the Federation of Students.
b. The General Manager is responsible for the day-to-day administration and financial management of the Federation of Students' businesses, operations and employees. The General Manager ensures that operational and administrative decisions are consistent with the By-Laws, Polices, Procedures of the Federation of Students, University policies, and decisions/direction from the Federation of Students' Board of Directors and Students' Council. -
Becky Wroe - Orientation & Special Events Manager
a. This position reports to the President.
b. This position co-ordinates and oversees a number of special events occurring on the campus throughout the year. The Federation of Students sponsors the majority of these events, while others are campus-wide in nature. This position, in conjunction with the University Administration and the President of the Federation of Students, is responsible for the co-ordination and supervision of Orientation Week for the Faculties, Residences, Off- Campus Dons and Federated Affiliated Colleges. This position, in conjunction with the General Manager, is responsible for the co-ordination and supervision of the Federation sponsored Special Events. -
John Andersen - Feds Executive Researcher
a. This position reports to the President.
b. This position acts as a resource person and assisting in special projects for the Executive of the Federation of Students. This position provides continuity and background on all issues relevant to the Federation of Students executive while maintaining a general resource centre using a central filing system including a computerized database. This position will also provide a historical perspective to the elected student executive. -
Ann Simpson - Student Life Centre Manager
a. This position reports to the President and the Associate Provost of Student Services.
b. This position is accountable to the Student Life Centre Management Board for all aspects of the management of the Student Life Centre. Responsibilities include developing long and short range strategic plans for annual budgets, human resources management, contractual agreements with tenants; revenue generation, facility maintenance, management and improvement, programming and community relations. -
5. Evalena Matlock -Corley - Student Resource Office Coordinator (Formerly Ombudsperson)
a. This position reports to the Feds President, Graduates Student Association President, and the Associate Provost of Student Services.
b. The Student Resource Office coordinator is mandated to assist, mediate, and advise individuals in conflict; act as a university and community resource and promote campus and community engagement for all members of the University of Waterloo community.
